  1. Sorry to be so off-topic, Sian but I have just read this on the Cneifiwr Blog. Can this be true?
"In 1997 the Welsh Tories went down all hands on deck. William Hague, that prototypical Tory Boy, shut down the Young Conservatives.

But it is claimed that there was one small corner of Cymru fach where the blue flame flickered defiantly against the gathering gloom before finally being extinguished. And of all places, dear reader, that was in Ammanford where, according to former school friends, Lee Waters enthusiastically embraced the Conservative and Unionist cause in a town reeling from the effects of Thatcherism."

  2. I've no idea as to the truth of this but I too have an infant Tory Past. In 1974, as 16 year old with tory parents, I put out leaflets for the Party in both the general elections of that year. It was nice Mr Heath in those days Then I went to university 2 years later and got a lot more left wing very quickly. I feel my politics 4 decades ago probably aren't too relevant these things are interesting and mildly embarrassing tit bits of gossip rather than deeply meaningful indications of future action. If I get a chance I'll ask Lee all about it

  3. Massive difference between 74 and 97. Pre and post Thatcher etc. This suggests opportunism.
